Obviously, the first thing you need is a barcode number to create the artwork around.

Please note that any Barcode Artwork that infringes on the actual bars of the barcode is likely to affect its scannability. If doing barcode art like this, it is best to have art that grows from the top or out to the sides of the barcode rather than changing the actual barcode itself.
